Conducting Root Cause Analysis | November 16, 2023
This webinar will review the fundamental principles and techniques of a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process in support of a culture of safety in hospitals. The webinar will review the types of hospital related events that threaten patient safety and how to identify and address them for improvement. The elements of an effective root cause analysis will be discussed as a systems approach to analyzing safety issues and developing targeted actions from their identified root causes. The model for improvement presented allows participants to learn from the underlying causes of errors or problems and to effectively develop solutions to prevent their recurrence while promoting a fair and just culture.
NHSN AUR Module for CMS Promoting Interoperability Program | December 5, 2023
Beginning in 2024, reporting to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Antimicrobial Use and Resistance (AUR) Module will be required under the Public Health and Clinical Data Exchange objective of the CMS Promoting Interoperability Program. Eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals are required to be in active engagement with CDC to report both AU and AR data. Facilities will receive a report from NHSN indicating their successful submission of AUR data for the EHR reporting period or claim an applicable exclusion. To support NHSN facilities with this new requirement, the NHSN Team will be hosting an additional Office Hour session. This session will start with a brief presentation and the remainder of the hour will be used for Q&A with attendees.
