June 25 Kansas HEN webinar to focus on quality resources for leadership

Be sure to join this month’s Kansas HEN webinar on Wednesday, June 25, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. CT. The educational segment will focus on communication resources and methods to support hospital leaders and trustees in quality and patient safety. Guest speaker will be Cheryl Ruble, MS, RN, CNS, improvement advisor with Cynosure Health. She will discuss features of the new AHA/HRET Trustee Guide along with suggestions for how the modules and materials can be used within your organization. In addition, we will discuss the Eliminating Harm Across the Board report and provide a sneak-peek on updates to the improvement calculator coming in July. As always, KHC staff will provide an overview on our progress to date and update you on resources available through the HEN. Bring your CEO, improvement teams, ideas and questions. Find event details here. -- Michele Clark

June Kansas HEN engagement reports released Friday

The June engagement summary was distributed Friday, June 20, to Kansas HEN hospital CEOs, CNOs and primary HEN contacts. KHC appreciates the hard work of hospital teams to meet our mid-year data submissions request for June. It is gratifying to see more and more “green” cells each month; participation through data collection is key to the success of all of our collaboratives. A copy of the report also is mailed to the attention of hospital CMOs. Contact KHC if you have questions. -- Eric Cook-Wiens

KHC is now scheduling HEN site visits

KHC staff would like an opportunity to visit your hospital this summer to discuss the Kansas HEN and to learn about your teams’ successes and challenges in quality and patient safety. A visit with Michele Clark or Shelley Boden will include an introduction to your facility’s run chart report prepared by KHC based on your Kansas HEN data. Please contact KHC to schedule your site visit by calling the KHC office at 785-235-0763. -- Michele Clark

Reminder: HEN data due June 30

As a reminder, please enter your Kansas HEN measures data for May by the end of Monday, June 30. Hospitals that submit CAUTI, CLABSI, SSI and/or VAE data in NHSN can confer rights to KHC to transfer outcome data on their behalf for purposes of the HEN. For more information or assistance with data or the measures, contact Eric Cook-Wiens at 785-235-0763 ext.1324. -- Eric Cook-Wiens
